About Me
My name is George Hamill-Stewart and I am a 24 year old digital designer who has moved from the United Kingdom to Perth. I have experience in freelance projects but my current goal is to work for a creative agency and be part of a team.
I studied for 4 years to get a bachelor's degree in Visual Communication and specialise in Branding, Web Design, Advertising and Animation

Event Promotion
I was asked to help promote an Open Day event at a nursery in Bangkok. They wanted me to create banners and flyers for parents to see and for children to be included.

This specific nursery had a natural theme aswell as a butterfly dome in it where children could walk inside and be surrounded by butterflies. This made me want to natural colours and to use butterflies in my designs.
I also thought it would be a good idea to include the children's drawings as part of the design (as seen on the far left image).

(Top and bottom white borders not visible when the banners were set up)
Flyers

I designed the flyers for the open day for this nursery. I made sure it contained the right amount of information as well as imagery that would let parents know about the kind and caring atmosphere the nursery porvided.
Interior Design
The two images shown above are the exact same picture. I was given specific details from my client to create a concept of how the children's nursery should look.

Using photoshop I removed all unwanted objects such as boxes and scaffolding and inserted all the specific features my client wanted.

Typographic Animation
I was given a task to create an animation using typography for a company called Key4Life. Key4Life is a movement that is raising awareness for the ongoing knife crime problem in England, more specifically in London.

I decided to create a lyric video using a song from an artist named Rage. Rage is known for once being a part of the gang scene but had come to realisation that carrying a knife is never the answer.

I used his song because i believe his style of music appeals more to the youth, being my target audience.
Mascot Work
I had a client who wanted to build an online persona in the music industry. He wanted to remain faceless and to have a mascot represent him instead.

To create the most accurate representation I combined features of the individual with his theme of music. He told me he wore bucket hats a lot and wore glasses so I included a bucket hat and replaced his glasses with a gas mask. He produces Drum and Bass music which is a genre of music that is known to be intense so it was only right to give him an intimidating look.

As shown I created him a full package of designs that would be used on his social media. These consist of a logo, banner, poster and an album cover of his latest song at the time.

Creating a Typeface
I created this typeface by starting with large rectangular blocks and gradually removing parts of them until they formed into letters.
I find this typeface to be energetic and 'in your face' which would make it more viable for an events poster.
Top Trumps Trials
During University I underwent the D&AD project which was a group project about coming up with new ways to represent a well known brand.

Our group had chosen Top Trumps and had the idea to make the playable card game completely customisable. Top Trumps Trials is the concept that people could create their own categories to play with and collect, with the ones with the higher ratings on the app to be released officially.

My role in this project was animation. The video shown is the animation I created that explains the concept in an engaging manner.
App Design
For this project I wanted to design a social media app that would would welcome all ages because of its simplicity and security. The concept addresses the fact that the elderly tend to not use social media because they find it complicated and would also provide a safe platform for young children to use social media without experiencing 'stranger danger'.
Logo
The idea of the app is based around a users friendship / family circle. each circle would have a fixed amount of people in it with access to generic social media features. If at some point there were to be a family gathering coming up with members from a different circle then this app allows your circles to link which creates one big group where users can chat and discuss plans.
Here are some images on how the app will look in use. Although a user can be in multiple rings, the idea is that the family ring is the primary one.

Each ring has 2 features to communicate with one another. Those being in a group chat or in a group call.
I noticed that no other application supports a shared calendar so I wanted this app to introduce it. This would stop people from double booking themselves and would have more clarity when planning
I also wanted to include a search engine that would be filtered to keep all search results family friendly no matter what was searched.
Logo Design
I was approached by a recruitment agency in Bangkok Thailand to redesign their logo. I was told to keep it bold and simple and to keep the theme colours of the brand, being blue, yellow and green.

I thought it would make sense for the logo to imply the idea of 'connection' as it was all about recruitment. The bottom left concept was more along the lines of a Thai traditional pattern.

I decided that my best approach was create 10-15 different drafts of this logo and work off feedback to narrow them down to 1.

Unfortunately I have lost some good drafts in this project due to file corruption.

Creating a Booklet
I was asked to choose between a variety of categories to design a booklet about. The option that appealed to me the most was 'A colourful story'.

Choosing this category meant that I had to dissect how colour is perceived in the world and to narrow one down and give a story to it. I decided to choose the colour red and to create a non-fiction booklet on how red was used in war.

Warriors code is a booklet that that analyses each time the colour red was emphasised in war. I made sure that each section was in chronological order, starting from the ancient romans and ending with red poppies for remembrance.
My Hobby
During my free time I really enjoy drawing on my tablet using pro-create. I mainly create illustrations of sports personalities and aspire to turn them into posters one day.
